INTERACTIVE SIGNAGE FOR THE KREHER PRESERVE AND NATURE CENTER OVERVIEW:The project objective was to create signage for the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center that fosters a deeper connection to nature through storytelling and interactive design. This project also used augmented reality (AR) technology, specifically the Artivive application, to showcase additional layers of meaning, movement, and interactivity within the signage.
DESIGN RATIONALE:The project examined how butterfly gardens positively impact other animals. The illustrations on the poster were created using a scan of a broken butterfly wing as a paintbrush to depict various animals. The artwork features an impressionist style, which is a result of the brush. The animals illustrated include a range of species in various sizes, such as a hummingbird, a bee, and a beetle. The accompanying text discusses the benefits of butterfly gardens. Additionally, the Artivive layer contains photos of the animals along with their names and a interesting fact. This ensures that viewers who cannot access the augmented reality feature won't miss any essential information and is simply an extra enhancement for those who can enjoy it.
